Substance Abuse

Clinical and Psychiatric Treatment

At Urban Recovery, we will work with you and your family to learn more about your substance abuse. We use a value-based approach to reconnect you with what matters most to combat the addiction. No matter how often you use, you do not need to hit rock bottom before receiving help.

Below are the substance abuse disorders our team treats (click on each to learn more about the disorder):

All these substance addictions can become a fatal disease if not intervened upon. We provide education and medication assisted recovery (MAR) to get you back to your healthy self. We treat your disorder from a disease, behavioral, social and spiritual perspective with our world-renowned team.

What To Expect

By meeting with our clinical team, you will undergo a 10-day assessment to receive a diagnosis and develop a customized treatment model. After the 10-day assessment, you can stay with us from 35-90 days where you will see therapists multiple times a week, do individual and group work, therapeutic immersion in one’s own home or at work as well as integrated therapy with family members.

In getting off drugs and medications – such as benzodiazepines, barbiturates, amphetamines, cannabis, cocaine and opioids – we will taper the dosage with medical supervision to ensure a healthier withdrawal period. We will assist you from a medical and psychological standpoint as you slowly get off the drugs. We treat post-acute withdrawal syndrome (PAWS), which can last for up to a year, for symptoms such as irritability, nightmares and hypersensitivity.

Once the substance is out of your system and you begin functioning again, we will address why you used in the first place. Learn more about our stabilization and detoxification process and why it is essential for a healthy recovery.

The family can also be involved through educational programming to learn of healthy habits. Family will often talk with our psychiatrists to better understand the addiction disorder and mental health issues you may be facing.

Every person and every family is unique. We take the time to understand the story of the family and of the individual to try and re-envision the family story together.
